Payment for egg sharing
In an egg sharing arrangement the costs of your IVF cycle will be paid by the recipient. This will include all the drugs that you receive as well as the medical and laboratory costs of your IVF cycle and the screening tests necessary for you to donate your eggs. You would still be responsible for the following costs:The blood screening tests for the IVF treatment for your partner (HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C). These may be performed by your GP.
The HFEA fee for IVF treatment (currently £105). This would have to be paid by yourself before drug stimulation can commence
Any additional treatment procedures in excess of basic IVF treatment. This would include ICSI (sperm microinjection for male infertility), assisted hatching, surgical sperm retrieval, blastocyst culture.
• Freezing of spare embryos for your own use You will not be entitled to be reimbursed for any out of pocket expenses (travel, child care, loss of earnings) incurred during treatment cycle.
However if, at any point after the treatment cycle has commenced, you elect not to provide eggs to the recipient but to retain them for your own use in that cycle, you will be liable for the full costs of treatment. This will include the cost of the egg donor screening tests, the cost of the drugs used to stimulate your ovaries to produce eggs and the full fee for an IVF cycle. These fees would need to be paid in full prior to the egg collection being performed failing which your cycle would be cancelled and the egg collection would not be performed.
