Is blastocyst transfer for me?

We are currently performing blastocyst transfer to those patients who have a better chance of having blastocyst development (i.e. women less than 37 years of age with a reasonable number of good quality embryos). Blastocyst transfer is also considered for those patients who have strong concerns about having twins as if we’re only going to transfer a single embryo it might be best to transfer it as a blastocyst.

We have used blastocyst transfer in patients in whom we have been concerned about the possible development of Ovarian HyperStimulation Syndrome as this allows more time after egg collection to assess the patients condition before taking the decision whether to transfer any fresh embryos.

It is important to consult with your doctor about whether blastocyst culture and transfer is for you.
